Public Health, Registered Nurse (RN)

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent opportunity for a civilian Public Health Registered Nurse (RN) at Dumfries Ambulatory Care Clinic in Dumfries, VA. This position is a full-time 40 hours a week schedule.  We provide out-patient clinic services for enlisted and retired military personnel in association with Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital.

Position Overview:

This position will provide a resource for identification, tracking, and facilitating the education of the Dumfries enrollees at risk for a variety of health issues of concern in the healthcare field today.  In this role, the Registered Nurse (RN) will provide clinical services by way of education administration. 

Essential Functions:

• Promotes overall healthy lifestyles for all enrolled patients with an emphasis on enrollees with chronic conditions and unhealthy lifestyle habits/increased risk factors.
• Will perform a retroactive review of the client medical records to identify individuals with specific diseases, conditions and diagnoses
• Contact and refer the patients into the various programs that will assist them in their managing their health
• Chart in ALTHA to track and maintain notes on all individuals who participate in programs or who are seen.
• Educate the providers and FHC staff on the various programs offered and how to identify and refer patients

Requirements:

• U.S. Citizen
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university; and/or graduate of an accredited National League of Nursing (NLN) School
• Current and valid state license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) to practice as a Registered Nurse in one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands
• A minimum of six years nursing experience, preferable with at least two years of recent experience in specialty areas such as public health nursing, disease management or health education.
• Certification in the health education or public health arena is optimal, and will be strongly encouraged within the first two years of employment.
• Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
